Xiaomi has now started selling the Redmi Turbo 5 in China. Joined by the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, the Redmi Turbo 5 differs from its Max sibling in most areas. For one, the Redmi Turbo 5 is physically smaller at 157.53 x 75.19 x 8.18 mm and 204 g.
As such, Xiaomi only has enough space to install a 6.59-inch display. Nonetheless, this AMOLED panel still outputs at 2,756 x 1,268 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 3,500 nits peak brightness and a 3,840 Hz PWM rate. The Redmi Turbo 5 features a 7,560 mAh battery too for a 15% improvement on the 6,550 mAh battery powering its predecessor, as well as MediaTek's Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset.
Moreover, the device supports 100 W wired charging and 27 W reverse wired charging. Also, Xiaomi equips the Redmi Turbo 5 with a Sony IMX822 sensor (1/1.95-inc) as its primary camera. Unfortunately, this 50 MP sensor is only complemented by 8 MP ultra-wide-angle (1/4-inch) and 20 MP front-facing (1/4-inch) cameras.
The Redmi Turbo 5 comes in a choice of three colours. Pricing starts at CNY 1,999 (~$288) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. However, Xiaomi also offers three other memory configurations up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for CNY 2,599 (~$375). Currently, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to receive a global release as the successor to last year's Poco X7 Pro (curr. $372.99 on Amazon).
