The FuriLabs FuriPhone FLX1 is a smartphone that relies on Linux instead of Android. In combination with the new Convergence Hub, this device can be turned into a Linux PC, but the docking station is also expected to be compatible with Android smartphones as long as they support external monitors via USB-C.
The Convergence Hub combines a square base with a stand that can be tilted and rotated by 360 degrees. This allows the smartphone display to be perfectly visible from a seated desk position, for example to read incoming messages. The hub connects to the smartphone via a very short but included USB-C cable and expands it with eight additional ports.
The front sports a 3.5mm headphone jack, while the right side features a USB-C port with Power Delivery support. For accessories, the Convergence Hub provides two additional USB-C ports as well as one USB-A port, while Ethernet can be used for wired network connections. HDMI and mini-HDMI can be used to hook up external monitors. The Synaptics DL-6950 DisplayLink chipset theoretically supports 4K monitors at up to 60Hz.
