OnePlus is expanding its new system-wide bypass charging feature to more phones and tablets with the latest OxygenOS update. Previously limited to gaming, the feature now works across apps, helping reduce heat and battery wear during plugged-in use.

Hot on the heels of introducing system-wide bypass charging on the OnePlus 13, OnePlus is now rolling out this new battery protection to four more devices: the OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 12, and the OnePlus Pad Go 2.

Bypass charging itself isn’t new to OnePlus phones, but until now, it was largely locked to gaming. The feature lets a device draw power directly from the charger instead of routing it through the battery first. This, in turn, reduces heat buildup and battery wear during demanding sessions. The latest OxygenOS update unlocks bypass charging functionality system-wide on the OnePlus 13R, 13s, 12, and OnePlus Pad Go 2. That means your phone (OnePlus 15 curr. $899) can now run on direct power from the charger, not only when playing games like Call of Duty or Genshin Impact, but also during other power-hungry tasks such as using Android Auto for navigation or watching videos at full brightness while plugged in.

Apart from the welcome bypass-charging capability, the update also includes the January 2026 Android security patch and a handful of quality-of-life improvements. The OnePlus 13s, in particular, gains the ability to edit full-resolution 50MP photos directly in the Photos app without sacrificing image quality. Three smartphones are also picking up refinements to the app drawer, including new “Office” and “Finance” categories to make it easier to find apps you're looking for.
