The excitement for GTA 6 is off the charts, and some fans reportedly went too far in their attempts to see the game early. While GTA 6 is expected to be the biggest game launch of 2026, new claims suggest that a small group of fans may have crossed serious boundaries.
Recently, a rumor surfaced claiming that GTA 6 might not get a physical disc release at launch, mainly to prevent leaks. Shortly after, Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly, a well-known game developer interviewer, said he strongly believes the claim is true and shared his thoughts on why Rockstar may be avoiding a physical launch.
According to Reilly, GTA 6 is on a completely different scale compared to GTA 5. He believes it will be the biggest launch in entertainment history, not just gaming. Because of that, Rockstar has much more to lose if anything leaks early.
He explained that physical discs are one of the biggest risks, and there are a number of Rockstar fans who “would 100% break into retail stores and manufacturing facilities to steal discs.” Plus, he added that people “on the inside” would leak information as well. With digital-only releases, the company has far more control over when and how the game becomes available.
Reilly also claimed that he has heard stories directly from Rockstar developers over the years about fans trying to break into their offices. Some reportedly used fake IDs to gain access, while others allegedly flew drones past office windows in an attempt to capture early gameplay footage or images. This just shows how intense the hype around GTA 6 has become.
