Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar, may have given early access to GTA 6 to a terminally ill fan. Details are sparse but it seems like a caring move by the company especially given the ongoing legal battle.

In what seems to be a wholesome move by Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar after allegations of union busting, the studio may have obliged a terminally ill fan’s request. With GTA 6 coming out in November this year, the fan may have got to try the game early, or at least that’s what seems to be the case from the post shared by a member of their family.

The original post on LinkedIn that started it all is not available anymore, but Google still has a cached version of it from a month ago. Fortunately, GTA 6 Countdown account on X was able to capture and share screenshots. The post in question is by Anthony Armstrong who works as a UI Integrator at Ubisoft Toronto. Anthony reached out to his contacts in Rockstar Games and Rockstar Toronto to request early access to GTA 6 for a family member – a huge fan of the franchise – who received terrible news about their battle with cancer.

The post mentions that the fan lives very close to the Rockstar Oakville office and would love to be part of a playtest, before their untimely passing. A few weeks later, Anthony shared an update stating that the CEO of Take-Two reached out and that they were waiting to hear back from the company. Then, in a final update, Anthony simply stated that they got great news from the company, without revealing any more details.

The assumption is that Rockstar arranged a playtest for the fan under NDA and asked Anthony to not share any information about the same. It is unclear in what state the game was in when the fan possibly got to play it. There were recent reports of it not being content complete, but those were somewhat blown out of proportion.

Throughout this time, Rockstar has been in the middle of a legal battle for firing numerous employees in the UK for allegedly leaking information about GTA 6. The employees claim that it was a union busting move on the company’s part and nothing else. If true, this incident with the terminally ill fan may bring some good grace to Rockstar and Take-Two. This isn't the first time they have done something like this, as another terminally ill fan was given early access to a pre-release demo of Red Dead Redemption 2.
