When it comes to GTA 6, there are numerous theories that have creeped up about its release and delay, the scale, the gameplay features, and more. Following the second delay to November 19, 2026, it is expected that it’s going to be a long while before PC players can get their hands on the game. Now, a new theory seems to shorten that timeline.
Leaker Detective Seeds, who accurately cited a May timeline for Trailer 2 (they claimed end of May but the trailer released much earlier), has now shared a theory on the PC release. For context, Rockstar took over a year to release the PC version of a GTA V after its initial console release. The same is expected for GTA 6. However, as per Detective Seeds, the PC release could happen much sooner, within three to six months.
It should be noted that the leaker has based this on personal opinion and there is no insider information involved. That being said, Detective Seeds theorizes that the shorter PC release timeline would still give console players about six months to experience and invest time in the game. Then a PC version comes out in 2027 and more people buy the game, before the next gen consoles that are scheduled for 2027-2028. Then, a PS6 version of the game releases with the new console bringing in even more purchases.
While this sounds like a logical theory, fans are divided as some claim this isn’t possible. A group of commenters believes that since the PC version has some improvements and upgrades over console versions, as seen with GTA V, it’ll be at least a year before the PC version of GTA 6 comes out after the console launch. This would allow Rockstar to sell as many copies on the current gen consoles, while optimizing the game for PC, and then raking in those sales a year later. Also followed by PS6 game sales in the same year or the year after.
Both theories have some weight to it, though it is more likely that the PC version of GTA 6 will have later than a year release rather than sooner. It could even arrive alongside the next generation consoles, but the opposite of that, a day one PC release, is highly unlikely.
