Oppo became the first smartphone OEM to adopt Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset earlier this year when it launched the Find N5 in February. Still unmatched when it comes to battery life, even nine months on, the Find N5 has since surrendered its thin and light crowns to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 (curr. $1,599 on Amazon).
Currently, Samsung is not expected to replace the Galaxy Z Fold7 until the middle of next year. However, Digital Chat Station suggests that Oppo will get the jump on Samsung again in 2026, as well as other rivals like Honor and Vivo. Recently, there were suggestions that Vivo is preparing the X Fold6 with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, among a host of other upgrades.
By contrast, Digital Chat Station reiterates that the Find N6 will be the first foldable to ship featuring Qualcomm's more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 alternative. At this stage, it is unclear whether Qualcomm will create a 7-core version of its flagship chipset again, which was only offered in the Find N5 for its Snapdragon 8 Elite generation
Regardless, the leaker adds that the Find N6 also contains satellite connectivity to match its predecessor. If the Find N5 is anything to go by, Oppo will offer satellite connectivity in a dedicated variant rather than across all models. There is no guarantee that Oppo will sell this satellite connectivity variant globally, though. Whether Oppo will return to the smaller form factor it pioneered with the Find N and Find N2 remains to be seen too, despite executives hinting as much over the summer.
