Early reports have offered early insights into Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 foldables. To achieve a 10% increased sales volume, Samsung is said to be bringing major hardware changes to its Galaxy Z Flip line with its eighth-generation model.

Samsung is expected to be preparing for another round of high-end smartphone releases in the next few months. By all accounts, the company will be delivering the Galaxy Z TriFold first, with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra following in early 2026.

Nonetheless, The Bell Korea has already offered up information about Samsung's plans for its Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 successors (curr. $1,099 on Amazon). Currently, the pair are thought of as the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, although no mention of a Galaxy Z Flip8 FE has been made at this stage.

Even so, Samsung is said to be considering ambitious sales targets for its eighth-generation foldables with 10% uplifts on their seventh-generation counterparts. Citing industry insiders and the Samsung Mobile eXperience Business Plan for 2026, The Bell Korea reports that Samsung hopes to ship a combined 6.7 million units, with much of this improvement generated by Galaxy Z Flip hardware upgrades.

Allegedly, Samsung will use the Galaxy Z Flip8 to introduce a much thinner clamshell foldable form factor, among other changes. Specifically, The Bell Korea claims that the difference between the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip8 will mirror those that Samsung achieved between the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Fold7. If that is the case, then it would indicate a drop of almost 30% in thickness to around 9.5 mm in the Galaxy Z Flip8's folded state.
