Samsung may be preparing to let the Galaxy Ring control the Galaxy XR headset. A code string spotted by Android Authority hints at gesture support, allowing users to navigate or select items with simple hand movements. The feature could also extend to Samsung’s upcoming smart glasses.

Samsung may soon let users control the Galaxy XR headset using the Galaxy Ring. The feature was first hinted at after Android Authority spotted a code string labelled “ring gesture for glasses” in the latest version of the Galaxy Ring Manager app. This suggests that the smart ring could interact with Samsung’s upcoming XR headset and future Galaxy Glasses.

The Galaxy Ring already supports simple actions such as taking photos or silencing alarms through gestures. Extending these controls to the Galaxy XR would allow users to navigate menus or confirm selections using gestures like a double pinch. This would also make interactions much smoother, especially for future Galaxy Glasses, which are not expected to include built-in hand-tracking cameras.

Samsung has previously filed patents describing how the Galaxy Ring could control multiple devices, including phones and tablets. The same approach could now be applied to XR hardware. Samsung has not officially confirmed this feature, but it aligns with the company’s effort to create better links between its wearable and extended reality devices.
