While competitors from China have long since reached 50 watts or even 80 watts of wireless charging, at least with proprietary chargers, Samsung stuck with the outdated 15-watt wireless charging for its Galaxy S25 series. Even its main competitor, Apple, offers more. But now Samsung appears to be slowly catching up in this area as well, at least from January 2026, when the Galaxy S26 series is scheduled to launch at a Galaxy Unpacked event.
20 to 25 watts of wireless charging
As a report from South Korea based on insider information highlights, Samsung will offer 20 watts of faster wireless charging in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, and even the current Qi2 maximum of 25 watts in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This should enable a reduction in charging time of up to 40% for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, meaning approximately 60 minutes instead of 100 minutes. A website from South Korea also recently published new information regarding Exynos 2600 vs. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
As was announced yesterday, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will most likely feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, while the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ will use the Exynos 2600 in some regions, Samsung's first 2nm chipset, which is not only significantly more efficient and cooler than previous generations, but also offers some exciting camera features.
