The alleged name of Samsung's next compact flagship smartphone has been the subject of contention over the last few months. To recap, there were rumours over the summer that Samsung would not be replacing the Galaxy S25 with a direct successor in the literal sense. Instead, the company was said to have been considering adopting a 'Pro' moniker for its smaller flagship with the release of the Galaxy S26 Pro.
Subsequently, other sources have walked back any suggestions that this would be the case. Now, Android Headlines and OnLeaks have returned with fresh render images of the so-called Galaxy S26. Apparently, more changes are afoot than a simple name change.
For reference, the pair previously suggested that the Galaxy S26 Pro measured 149.3 x 71.4 x 6.96 mm, which would have made it noticeably thinner than the Galaxy S25 (curr. $479 - renewed on Amazon). While Ice Universe recently indicated that this thinner profile applied to the Galaxy S26, OnLeaks implies that Ice Universe was relying upon outdated information.
According to OnLeaks, Samsung's latest prototype has grown to 7.24 mm thick while being 149.5 mm tall and 71.6 mm wide too. If these new dimensions are accurate, then it would see the Galaxy S26 being closer to the height and width of the iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Pro than its predecessor. Overall, the Galaxy S26 still looks more like a smaller Galaxy S26 Ultra than its predecessor did relative to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Currently, the Galaxy S26 is expected to join the Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra during a simultaneous launch in early 2026 with Exynos 2600 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets to choose from.
