The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is debuting sometime in February 2026. As of now, Samsung is expected to release three models: The regular Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26 Plus, and the top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra. Thanks to a plethora of leaks over the past months, we have a good idea of what Samsung has in store for fans. Ice Universe has now added to this growing pile of Galaxy S26 leaks by revealing the final weight of the Galaxy S26 series.
The Galaxy S26 phones are reportedly lighter than their iPhone 17 counterparts. Per Ice Universe:
- The base Galaxy S26 weighs 164 g
- The Galaxy S26 Plus comes in at 191 g
- The Galaxy S26 Ultra tips the scales at 214 g
Compared to the iPhone 17 series:
- The Galaxy S26 is 13 g lighter than the iPhone 17
- The Galaxy S26+ is 13 g lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro
- The Galaxy S26 Ultra is 17 g lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max
This is a rather small weight difference, and most people wouldn’t even notice it. What some people might be able to notice, however, is the difference in thickness between the Galaxy S26 and the iPhone 17 devices. Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be 1.05 mm, 1.45 mm, and 0.85 mm thinner than the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, respectively.
In other words, while Samsung has allegedly cut corners to achieve a lower price point for the Galaxy S26, the phone is likely to still come in thinner and lighter than the iPhone 17. Whether this is enough to make the phone more appealing than the iPhone 17 is a different question.
If you ask us, we would’ve liked to see Samsung make the Galaxy S26 series heavier and thicker to accommodate bigger batteries and beefier cooling solutions. Chinese phones like the OnePlus 15 have shown remarkable runtimes courtesy of large silicon-carbon batteries. So, Samsung apparently doing the bare minimum with conservative camera changes, battery size, and charging speed increases for the Galaxy S26 is a puzzling move.
In the end, we’ll have to reserve judgments until we can get our hands on the Galaxy S26 next year. Until then, take the information with a grain of salt.
