The launch of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra remains up in the air for the time being, with Xiaomi now focusing on the surprise early arrival of the Poco F8 series instead. While we await official confirmation about the replacement of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, various sources already claim to have received information about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's whereabouts.
For example, Digital Chat Station reiterated last week that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will debut next month. Now, Kartikey Singh has expanded upon earlier claims with a more precise timeline for the device's official introduction. Please note that any initial Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch will likely only relate to China. By contrast, Xiaomi is expected to introduce the device globally early next year alongside its successor to the Xiaomi 15 (curr. $879 on Amazon).
According to Singh, Xiaomi plans to present the Xiaomi 17 Ultra during the 4th week of December. Dubbed 'the most powerful smartphone camera of 2025', the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to combine an OmniVision OVX10500U primary camera with ISOCELL JN5 (S5KJN5) and ISOCELL HPE (S5KHPE) telephoto sensors, as well as a second ISOCELL JN5 for ultra-wide-angle optics.
Given that the 4th week of December falls over the Christmas period, we suspect that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will launch either on December 22/23 or December 27/28. Incidentally, Xiaomi elected to unveil the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro simultaneously on December 28, 2021.
