Xiaomi has just released the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in China. According to official reports, the trio have already broken revenue records set by prior generations. Unfortunately, it seems that Xiaomi has no current plans to offer the Xiaomi 17 Pro or Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and their innovative secondary displays globally.
Instead, only the Xiaomi 17 is set to be available beyond China, just like the Xiaomi 15 before it (curr. $890 on Amazon). Based on current thinking, Xiaomi will unveil the Xiaomi 17 globally alongside the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which is also expected to be the most expensive member in the series. Although the latter's launch is unlikely to occur before the new year, XiaomiTime claims to have discovered early details about the camera hardware that will grace the device.
Allegedly, a twin telephoto camera set-up will return based around Samsung's ISOCELL JN5 (S5KJN5) and ISOCELL HPE (S5KHPE) sensors that will provide 50 MP and 200 MP native outputs, respectively. For context, not only is the latter anticipated to feature in other flagships, but it is also anticipated to feature in the global version of the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus.
Additionally, XiaomiTime references code snippets showing that Xiaomi will turn to the ISOCELL JN5 for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's ultra-wide-angle optics. Moreover, this 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera will be joined by 50 MP primary and front-facing cameras made up of the OmniVision OVX10500U and OV50M, respectively. Currently, XiaomiTime speculates that the OVX10500U is a replacement for the OV50X, which would signal the former being a new 1-inch type sensor.
