Earlier this week, Xiaomi updated its flagship smartphone series with the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Replacing the Xiaomi 15 Pro and smaller Xiaomi 15 in the process (curr. $890 on Amazon), the trio are the first smartphones that any Android OEM has released with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Despite introducing the trio earlier this week, Xiaomi has only just kicked off open sales in China. Nonetheless, the company is already boasting that the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max have set a new sales record for its flagship smartphone series. As the screenshots below show, Xiaomi claims that the trio achieved this landmark within just five minutes of sales opening.
Ultimately, Xiaomi has not revealed how many units it has shipped or comparative numbers with the Xiaomi 15 series. Likewise, it has left fans in the dark about the revenue it grossed during this time period. A straightforward explanation would be that Xiaomi has added a third model for this generation, which we imagine would help year-on-year growth. Unfortunately, early evidence cast doubts about global availability for either of Xiaomi's Pro smartphones.
