Xiaomi has now unleashed its alternative to the iPhone 17 Pro, albeit only in China for the time being. Measuring in at 151.1 x 71.8 x 8 mm, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is marginally shorter, narrower and thinner than the smaller of Apple's latest Pro-branded iPhones. The Xiaomi 17 Pro weighs 192 g too, which makes it roughly the same weight as Samsung's larger Galaxy S25 Plus (curr. $999 on Amazon).
As expected, the Xiaomi 17 Pro drops to a 6.3-inch display just like the Xiaomi 17. From the looks of things, the pair share the same 2,656 x 1,220 pixel, 3,500 nit and 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED panel. However, Xiaomi has also included a 2.7-inch AMOLED panel on the Xiaomi 17 Pro's rear, which outputs at 904 x 572 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 3,500 nits peak brightness too.
Surprisingly, the Xiaomi 17 Pro lines up with a 10% smaller battery than the Xiaomi 17. Nonetheless, the Xiaomi 17 Pro has a 3.27% larger battery capacity than the Xiaomi 15 Pro at 6,300 mAh. Moreover, the Xiaomi 17 Pro departs from the Xiaomi 17 and its predecessor with the following cameras:
- Primary: 50 MP, Hunter 950L, f/1.67, 23 mm equivalent focal length, OIS,
- Telephoto: 50 MP, f/3.0, 115 mm equivalent focal length (5x optical zoom), 20 cm macro mode, OIS
- Ultra-wide: 50 MP, f/2.4, 17 mm equivalent focal length, 102° FoV, 5 cm super macro mode
- Front-facing: 50 MP, f/2.2, 90° FoV
The Xiaomi 17 Pro starts at CNY 4,999 (~$702) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Also, the handset can be configured with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage for CNY 5,999 (~$842), unlike the cheaper Xiaomi 17. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not indicated whether the Xiaomi 17 Pro will be available globally.
