OnePlus has started teasing its next-generation flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15. The smartphone is confirmed to come with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Additionally, the company revealed it will have a 165Hz refresh rate screen. Now, a new leak has emerged online revealing the starting price of the OnePlus 15 in China.
Previously, there was a leak that suggested OnePlus might launch the OnePlus 15 at a lower price. Now, the leak from user @OnePlusClub on X suggests that the base model OnePlus 15 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage will be priced at CNY 3,999, which translates to $560. For comparison, the OnePlus 13 with the same memory configuration launched in China for CNY 4,499 (roughly $630).
A possible reason for the price drop is that OnePlus is rumored to be emphasizing performance while scaling back certain high-end components. A previous leak suggested that OnePlus will be downgrading the primary and telephoto cameras. Additionally, the haptic motor is said to be smaller than its predecessor. The Hasselblad partnership has also ended, and the OnePlus 15 will be using the in-house imaging engine.
The performance-centric approach was OnePlus’ hallmark strategy when it was launched in 2014 by providing high performance at a lower price than competitors. Now, OnePlus appears to be trying its old approach with the new phone.
Do note that the pricing above is based on a leak and is not official. As mentioned earlier, the leaked pricing is specific to the Chinese market. It remains unclear whether OnePlus will adjust global pricing. For reference, the OnePlus 13 launched in the US at $899 for the 12/256 GB variant.
