The leak from Digital Chat Station was actually referring to the OnePlus Ace 6 and not the OnePlus 15. However, the OnePlus Ace 6 is expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus 15R for the global markets so the information holds true for the more budget-friendly phone. The article has been adjusted accordingly.
Edited article continues as follows:
OnePlus itself has been teasing some of the specifications for its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship, the OnePlus 15. That hasn’t stopped leaks about its other more budget oriented phones from flowing in. The latest information comes from a prolific leaker and it talks about the OnePlus Ace 6 and mentions the different RAM and storage options, the massive battery capacity, and colorways.
Digital Chat Station has shared on Weibo that the OnePlus Ace 6 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and be offered in five configurations: 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB, 16 GB + 256 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB, and 16 GB + 1 TB. This phone will likely be exclusive to China and then rebranded as the OnePlus 15R for the rest of the world. It is possible that some of these configurations don’t make it to global markets as the OnePlus 13R (rebranded Ace 5 with minor differences) (buy on Amazon) came in multiple configurations in China but the global variant had only one option.
The Weibo post also mentions the battery capacity, which has long been rumored to be over 7,000 mAh. The phone is said to carry a 7,800 mAh battery that supports 120 W fast charging. This is a 30% larger battery than the OnePlus 13R which already showed excellent run times in our practical battery tests. Notably, back in May, the same leaker had mentioned that a flagship with a 7,800 mAh battery was in development, but it was unclear what phone it was going to be.
Digital Chat Station has reiterated in the latest post some information about the weight and the colors. The OnePlus 15R is said to come in black, Quick Silver, and Flash White color variants that weigh 214 grams, only a gram heavier than the predecessor, despite the much larger battery. It could be that some of the colors are kept exclusive to China.
The OnePlus 15R will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Soc and have a 165 Hz refresh rate display. OnePlus will also likely use its own imaging engine this time as it has ended its partnership with Hasselblad. There is no official release date yet for the OnePlus Ace 6/ OnePlus 15R, but the OnePlus 15 is expected to be unveiled on October 27 in China.
