With silicon-carbon batteries taking the smartphone manufacturing industry by storm, companies are now able to install larger capacities in even smaller phones. The OnePlus 13T is a prime example of that, housing a 6,260 mAh battery and now, it looks like the company is working on a flagship device with an even larger capacity, at 7,800 mAh.
The latest leak comes from Digital Chat Station over at Weibo. The leaker stated that a Snapdragon 8 Elite powered flagship phone is in the works and it will have a battery capacity of around 7,800 mAh. He adds that the phone will have a flat display. While the post does not mention OnePlus specifically, commentors are confident that it will be the next OnePlus flagship, either the OnePlus 14 or the OnePlus 15.
Knowing that OnePlus avoids using the number 4 in any of its phone names for China (there was no OnePlus 4 and Nord 4 was launched as Ace 3V in China), it is likely that the device in question will be called the OnePlus 15.
Fitting such a massive battery has been made possible thanks to silicon-carbon technology. Replacing the standard graphite batteries, silicon can hold more electrons in the same volume so the overall size of the phone does not increase, but the battery capacity can increase significantly.
The OnePlus 13T uses a silicon-carbon battery allowing a capacity of 6,260 mAh that is housed inside a relatively smaller device with a 6.32-inch display. It is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, but is not a true flagship in the sense that it does not feature the best camera system, display, charging speeds, and wireless charging capability, when compared to the OnePlus 13. The phone mentioned in the latest leak is referred to as a flagship so it will likely be the OnePlus 15 and not a 'T,' 'R,' or 'Ace' model.
