Details of the Alcatel V3 Ultra, the first Alcatel-branded smartphone in three years, reveal a phone with a proprietary TCL display, a stylus, and triple rear cameras. Will these features be enough to challenge the Galaxy S25 Ultra?

This year has seen the return of some smartphone brands such as Acer with the Acerpure Acerone Liquid series and the Super ZX series smartphones. Now, it is the turn of Alcatel with the soon-to-be-released Alcatel V3 Ultra, its first smartphone since 2022.

News of new Alcatel-branded smartphones was first reported in April. Official statements from the brand revealed that new smartphones that would be manufactured in India will be launching soon. That announcement has since been followed by teasers of the first smartphone, the Alcatel 3V Ultra, by Alcatel India's social media accounts.

The latest is a picture of the phone's retail box which was posted on X by Madhav Sheth, a former CEO of Realme India who now heads Honor Tech, the company behind the Honor brand in India. Madhav's LinkedIn page also states he's the founder and a tech advisor for Alcatel India.

The photo shared on X shows different retail boxes for the Alcatel V3 Ultra, although based on the caption, we know it is the black one that the phone will ship in. Based on the retail boxes, we know a few key details about the smartphone.

For starters, the Alcatel V3 Ultra will have triple rear cameras housed in a humongous circular camera island. The retail box also reveals it will have a stylus, making it an alternative to the Motorola Edge 60 Stylus/Moto G Stylus 2025 (available on Amazon for $399) or even Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra. The blue retail box on the right also shows the phone will have a flat display with a centered punch hole for the front-facing camera.

Previous teasers as well as a promotional page on Flipkart hint at the Alcatel V3 Ultra having TCL's proprietary NXTPAPER display used in the TCL 50 Pro. One of the teasers talks about the screen's many display modes designed for multiple use cases including reading and watching videos.

Many features of the Alcatel V3 Ultra are still unknown including a release date, but one thing that seems certain is that it may be exclusive to India. So if you reside in Europe or North America, don't get your hopes up.
