MediaTek is set to launch yet another chipset in the Dimensity 9400 series. This SoC, expected to be branded as the Dimensity 9400e, is officially scheduled to debut next week and has also been tipped to outperform its closest rival, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.

After launching the Dimensity 9400+ as its most powerful SoC yet, MediaTek is set to revisit the series with yet another chipset, the Dimensity 9400e, shortly. This SoC is expected to be positioned right beneath the Dimensity 9400 as a sub-premium offering for powerful mid-range devices.

As confirmed by MediaTek on its Weibo page earlier today, a new Dimensity 9400 series chipset is set to debut "next week". The post doesn't state the identity of the chipset but leaks from reliable sources indicate it'll be branded as the Dimensity 9400e, and is expected to sit between the Dimensity 8400 and Dimensity 9400.

That would position the Dimensity 9400e as a natural rival to Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. According to Chinese leaker WhyLab, however, the Dimensity 9400e can be expected to "crush the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4". How valid that claim is in reality remains to be seen, though.

Either way, neither the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 nor the Dimensity 9400e are likely to be adopted by a large number of devices outside China—the MediaTek chipset even more so. The Dimensity 9400e is expected to be featured first on OnePlus's upcoming Ace5s series, however, which has been tipped to launch later this month, and will target devices priced in the ~CNY 2,000 ($270 - $415) range in China. As for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, that SoC will underpin the upcoming Poco F7.
