The Vivo Pad 5 Pro is positioned as a direct competitor to the Apple iPad Air and offers better specifications in some respects. For instance, Vivo has opted for a 13-inch IPS panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio, a resolution of 3096 x 2064 pixels, 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,200 nits.
Additionally, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 flagship processor should provide enough performance for Vivo’s new Android tablet. Thanks to the multitasking features of OriginOS 5 and the optional keyboard with trackpad, the Pad 5 Pro might be a decent laptop replacement for some users. Vivo’s software even allows the tablet to use a Windows computer or Mac as a secondary external display for the Pad 5 Pro.
With eight speakers and a 12,050mAh battery, the Vivo Pad 5 Pro should also be a decent multimedia tablet. It can be charged via USB-C at up to 66 watts, and Vivo advertises a battery life of up to 16 hours when streaming video. The USB-C port has a bandwidth of 5Gbit/s, while the thin metal chassis weighs less than 1.3 lbs and houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 13-megapixel main camera with an LED flash on the back.
Price and availability
The Vivo Pad 5 Pro will launch on the Chinese market first. The base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage will cost the equivalent of roughly $399 (¥2,899). Alternatively, the flagship model with 16GB of memory and 512GB of mass storage is available for $535 (¥3,899).
