So far, the rumour mill suggests the Galaxy S25 FE will offer little in the way of upgrades over the Galaxy S24 FE. The former was tipped to launch with an Exynos 2400e SoC found on the latter. However, a reliable source reached out to us and revealed an exciting new detail.
While the Exynos 2400e remains the prime contender, Samsung's backup plan involves using a flagship MediaTek SoC, the Dimensity 9400. It isn't surprising, given Samsung has already used MediaTek silicon in its Galaxy Tab S10 series. Our source adds that the Galaxy S25 FE will launch as per schedule, i.e, sometime in late 2025.
However, this could be adjusted based on market conditions. On paper, the Dimensity 9400 is a much better option than an Exynos 2400e, but it is understandable why Samsung prefers Exynos. For one, it would help Samsung Foundry get much-needed revenue. And, the TSMC-made Dimensity 9400 will certainly be a lot more expensive than Samsung's in-house offering.
Last time, the Galaxy S24 FE was the sole recipient of the Exynos 2400e. Now, however, yields may have to be split between the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy Z Flip FE, which is also rumoured to launch with the same SoC. In the end, it will come down to how many Exynos 2400e units Samsung Foundry can produce in the coming weeks.
