Samsung is said to be working on the Galaxy S25 FE, the successor to the Galaxy S24 FE that was launched in October last year. The FE or Fan Edition phones are more affordable versions of its flagship offerings, bringing mostly the same features, but with a few compromises. With the Galaxy S25 FE, it looks like Samsung will be skipping the SoC upgrade entirely and using the same processor as the Galaxy S24 FE.
The codenames for Samsung’s Galaxy models that start with “r” typically refer to the FE phones. The phone with the internal codename “siop_r11q_sm8450” is said to be the Galaxy S23 FE. This phone has another codename, “siop_r11s_exynos2200,” for the Exynos model. Similarly, the “r12s” codename refers to the Galaxy S24FE and the “r13s” should refer to the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE.
Taking that into consideration, Android Authority has found code indicating that the Galaxy S25 FE will come with the same SoC as the Galaxy S24 FE, the Exynos 2400e. The internal codenames for the two phones are the same with the only difference being the r12s for the Galaxy S24 FE and the r13s for the Galaxy S25 FE. The processor part for both these phones is referred to with “s5e9945” which is said to be the part number for the Exynos 2400/2400e.
If this information turns out to be true, the Galaxy S25 FE will have an SoC that is significantly slower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and even slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is unclear why Samsung might be taking this route, but things could change as we move closer to launch, expected to be in October. The Exynos 2400e, on the other hand, is expected to make an appearance with the Galaxy Z Flip FE as well.
