Techmaniacs claims to have received early information about what Samsung has in store for its Galaxy Watch division later this year. To recap, evidence emerged earlier this month that Samsung is developing two sizes of the Galaxy Watch8 with Wi-Fi and LTE-specific variants. In short, test firmware for the SM-L320, SM-L325, SM-L330 and SM-L335 have appeared online so far.
Additionally, the same leak highlighted the SM-L500 and SM-L505U, a third option with distinct Wi-Fi and LTE variants too. By all accounts, it was unclear what this smartwatch could be. For instance, SM-L500 and SM-L505U do not share a root model number with the Galaxy Watch Ultra or the Galaxy Watch6 Classic (curr. $299 on Amazon).
However, Techmaniacs now reports that Samsung's third flagship smartwatch this year will be the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 rather than the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Allegedly, Samsung's next 'Ultra' smartwatch will not differ from the existing Galaxy Watch Ultra in design. Instead, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is said to surpass its predecessor with more memory; whether that is storage, RAM or both remains to be seen.
Moreover, the website states that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will match its predecessor's €699 launch price. As it stands, we are unsure whether this also means that the Galaxy Watch Ultra will line up for $649.99 in the US. Regardless, Techmaniacs adds that the current Galaxy Watch Ultra will receive a permanent price cut to around €400, which would equate to around $450 at current exchanges. The Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are expected to launch this summer alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7.
