Huawei has already confirmed that it will be officially launching the Watch 5 globally on May 15 during an event hosted in Berlin. Nonetheless, various sources have obtained high resolution render images of the smartwatch ahead of schedule. Not only that, but equivalent images showing a Watch Fit 3 successor have turned up online too (curr. $129 on Amazon).
According to 91mobiles and @RODENT950, Huawei plans to offer the Watch 5 in two sizes unlike the current Watch 4 or Watch 4 Pro. Specifically, the pair claim that 42 mm and 46 mm variants will be available, both with designs that build on the Watch 4 series. For example, while the displays on the Watch 4 series rise out of their frames slightly, it looks like the displays on all Watch 5 models sit flush this time around.
Also, Huawei has modified its case design to accommodate a new fingertip sensor. A digital crown and auxiliary hardware button return, as does a proprietary quick-release strap system. Unfortunately, it looks like Huawei has updated the latter between generations, which will make Watch 4 series bands incompatible with the Watch 5.
Meanwhile, the Watch Fit series will arrive with a redesign of its own for its fourth-generation model. As far as we can tell, Huawei intends to offer two variants with slightly different designs. Ultimately though, the two mimic Apple's recent Watch and Watch Ultra smartwatches. Technical details for both smartwatches remain unknown for now. Instead, 91mobiles has obtained reported pricing information for the entire Watch 5 series:
- Huawei Watch 5 (42 mm/silicone band) - €499 (~$567)
- Huawei Watch 5 (46 mm/silicone band) - €549 (~$623)
- Huawei Watch 5 (46 mm/metal band) - €649 (~$737)
