Garmin is gradually working towards delivering new stable updates to the Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro and other associated smartwatches. In the meantime, the company has released a fresh beta update worldwide that brings new bug fixes to the table, such as one that could cause Incident Detection to kick in during unsupported activities.

Just the other day, Garmin quietly expanded the availability of its electrocardiogram (ECG) to more countries for the Fenix 7 series and other high-end smartwatches. Now, it has returned to releasing new firmware to beta testers, despite flighting Beta Version 21.09 earlier this week.

This time, it has advanced beta software development to Beta Version 21.10 ahead of an eventual stable release. To recap, Beta Version 21.09 brought half a dozen improvements to the Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Pro, along with the Enduro 2 and Tactix 7 (curr. $1,084.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, Garmin has found enough changes to warrant releasing a new build.

On the one hand, the company claims to have resolved various miscellaneous bugs relating to its Live Activity software. Unfortunately, it has not provided any specifics in this regard. On the other hand, short distance running and walking activities should no longer yield errors. Beta Version 21.10 is also said to fix the bug that was causing incident detection to activate incorrectly during unsupported activity types. Beta Version 21.10 should reach compatible smartwatches within the next few days as an over-the-air (OTA) update via Garmin Mobile Connect (GCM) or Garmin Express.
