Garmin has finally pushed a new stable update to current high-end smartwatches like the Fenix 8. Unfortunately, the firmware is not the mammoth one that the company has been teasing for the last month or so on its beta program.

In recent weeks, Garmin has been laying the foundations in what promises to be a huge stable update for the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 (curr. $1,299.99 on Amazon). By our count, the changelog for 15.xx beta development now sits at nearly 150 spread across bug fixes, new features and refinements. Unfortunately, Garmin has not offered any indications as to when 15.xx builds will transfer to its stable software branch.

Now, it has quietly started rolling out a new stable update to the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 with none of the changes it has been beta testing since the end of last month. Like System Software 13.35 before it, Garmin has delivered System Software 13.37 without any warning, or System Software 13.73 for the Tactix 8. As a result, owners have been left questioning on Garmin's forums what has changed with this new build.

On other devices, one can typically check directly what improvements a new update has made. For some reason, Garmin decides against showing a changelog either on the smartwatch itself or on its Connect Mobile app. Instead, it posts these on its forums, which it has finally done so with System Software 13.37. As it turns out, the new update only resolves an undisclosed bug that prevented Alipay from working correctly. Thus, it seems that Garmin plans to wait a few more weeks before delivering a substantial update to its latest high-end smartwatches.
