The Garmin Fenix 7 and related smartwatches are receiving a new beta update: version 21.13. Arriving shortly after its predecessor, version 21.11, this latest release tackles an issue relating to running dynamics. Plus, there are also updates for various sensor hubs.

Garmin has released beta version 21.13 for the Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7 and MARQ Gen 2 smartwatches. The update arrives swiftly after beta version 21.11, which fixed a range of issues relating to naps, body battery and strength activity.

In this latest beta release, Garmin has tackled an issue linked to running activities. Recently, users reported that running dynamics were lost after one hour. According to the change log for beta version 21.13, this problem has now been resolved. One user has also confirmed this in a comment on the Garmin forum.

On top of this, there is a new version of the general Sensor Hub (34.12) and the MARQ 2 Sensor Hub (31.12). It is unclear whether these changes are linked to the running dynamics bug fix or if there are different benefits.

Beta version 21.13 is rolling out over-the-air (OTA) to the Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7 and MARQ Gen 2 smartwatches. However, you can also manually trigger the download and installation process by going to the Menu > System > Software Update > Check for Updates. Garmin reminds users of smartwatches like the Fenix 7 Pro Solar Sapphire (curr. $649.99 at Amazon) that the ECG feature is disabled during beta testing.
