Garmin brings new updates to recent AMOLED and MiP smartwatches with GPS fix and other improvements

Roughly two weeks have passed Garmin since pushed a new beta build for its Instinct E, Instinct 3 AMOLED and Instinct 3 Solar smartwatches (curr. $449.99 on Amazon). Although the company has not delivered stable software between then and now, it has released multiple Instinct 3 Tactical Edition smartwatches with theoretically unlimited battery life.

On top of that, possible LTE refreshes of the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 were subsequently spotted in the Garmin Connect app, full details of which we have covered separately. While Garmin has not revealed anything since, it has returned to offering new beta builds for its Instinct E and Instinct 3 smartwatches.

Please note that the company has not mentioned that the Instinct 3 Tactical Edition smartwatches are eligible to receive beta updates yet. Surprisingly, the company has offered up updates on consecutive days, with Beta Version 9.19 replacing Beta Version 9.18 earlier today by adding 'miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements'. As it stands, Garmin has readied the following changes from v8.09 in a new stable update:

All Instinct 3/Instinct E smartwatches

• Added support for Garmin Connect+ .
• Added support for Breathing Variations.
• Added Passcode support.
• Added support for additional locations in Weather glance.
• Fixed possible freeze when viewing daily summary.
• Fixed activity power mode setting in GCM.

Solar/E models only

• Added Daily Suggested Workouts to Workouts app.
• Fixed possible crashes during GPS activities.
• Fixed issue where HR glance could not be accessed when WHR was disabled.
• Fixed access to activities from History glance.
• Fixed issue where battery estimate would incorrectly display "Low" during indoor activities. 
• Fixed issue where battery estimate would not adjust correctly when editing power mode.
• Fixed crash while plugged in to computer.
• Fixed possible crash when disconnecting from computer.
• Fixed watch face month abbreviation.

Solar/AMOLED models only

• Added Rucking activity.
• Added Support for Pack Weight.
• Various Gaming activity fixes and improvements.
• Fixed courses not appearing in race widget.
• Fixed Jump Mode missing from Jump Rope activity settings.
• Fixed "Target Finished" alert after starting Jump Rope activity.
• Fixed issue where device could not connect to PC after using the Gaming activity.
• Fixed Golf distance units.

AMOLED models only

• Added morning report greeting page animations.
• Fixed done button missing from coordinate entry page.
• Fixed crash in pool swim activity.
• Fixed watch face barometer trend data field.
• Fixed issue with battery saver watch face.
• Fixed flashlight controls flickering when using CIQ watch face.
