Garmin has launched the new Instinct 3 Tactical Edition watches worldwide. These wearables leaked earlier in April 2025 in images found as part of a press release on the Garmin Vietnam site.
There are three variants: the Instinct 3 – 50 mm, AMOLED, Tactical Edition, the Instinct 3 – 50 mm, Solar, Tactical Edition and the Instinct 3 – 45 mm, Solar, Tactical Edition. Each is black with a black band, building on the original models which were launched in January 2025. They feature a metal-reinforced bezel and a scratch-resistant display, like their predecessors. Other similarities include an integrated LED flashlight and health tracking with metrics like Body Battery and GPS positioning. They also have the same battery life, with up to 24 days for the AMOLED watch and up to 40 days, or unlimited battery in the right conditions, for the Solar versions.
Features exclusive to the Tactical Edition include night vision capability, a new rucking activity, and a stealth mode to hide your GPS position. You can store waypoints on the map for later use, and there is also a Jumpmaster Mode and a kill switch. Plus, the AB Quantum app for smartphones allows you to manage your profile, targets and ballistic data. On top of this, users can pay a one-time fee to unlock the Applied Ballistics Solver for long-range shooting.
You can now buy the 50mm Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical Edition AMOLED in countries like the US, the UK and the Netherlands for $599.99/£499.99/€599.99. Meanwhile, the 45 mm and 50 mm versions of the Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical Edition Solar are available for $499.99/$429.99/€499.99 and $549.99/£459.99/€549.99, respectively. As a reminder, the standard 50mm Instinct 3 AMOLED is priced at $499.99, and the same-sized Solar version costs $449.99.
