It seems that the long-awaited launch of new Forerunner smartwatches could soon be upon us. Officially, Garmin has not teased anything yet. Nonetheless, the company has been spotted running an extended warranty campaign application on its Taiwanese website for an unreleased Forerunner smartwaatch.
To recap, Garmin released the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 in mid-2022 to replace the ageing Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 945. Less than a year later, it introduced the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 (curr. $599.99 on Amazon) whose second anniversary passed in March. As a result, it seemed likely that Garmin would introduce the Forerunner 275 and Forerunner 975 at some point.
While it was unclear when new Forerunner smartwatches would arrive, a credible leak suggested that the Forerunner 975 would launch later this year. Garmin's new extended warranty campaign application form suggests that neither the Forerunner 275 nor the Forerunner 975 will be Garmin's next Forerunner smartwatch release, though.
Instead, it looks like the company intends to launch the Forerunner 970 before moving on to other Forerunner models. It is worth stressing that there is currently no evidence to suggest that Garmin has decided against releasing the Forerunner 275 or Forerunner 975. With that being said, the Forerunner 970 looks first up, possibly within the next month or so. Unfortunately, specifications, pricing and device images remain unknown for now.
