Garmin has finally started selling the Forerunner 265 series globally. Available as the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S, the Forerunner 265 series retails for US$449.99 and features AMOLED displays. The Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S both retail for US$449.99 and are orderable now.

Garmin has, as expected, introduced the Forerunner 265 series, consisting of the regular Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S. The pair have launched alongside the Forerunner 965, which we have covered in a separate article. Fundamentally, size is the difference between the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S. On the one hand, the Forerunner 265 has a 46 mm case and a 1.3-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 416 x 416 pixels. On the other hand, the Forerunner 265S is a 42 mm smartwatch, which restricts the display that Garmin can include. As a result, the Forerunner 265S has a 1.1-inch AMOLED display with a 360 x 360-pixel native resolution.

Both displays have built-in touchscreens and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coverage, though. Additionally, the pair have 8 GB of storage and the same suite of sensors. According to Garmin, both smartwatches offer multi-GNSS connectivity for precise positioning, blood oxygen saturation monitoring, its Elevate wrist heart rate monitor and a compass, among other sensors.

As always, Garmin has pre-installed a bevvy of software that provides access to numerous exercise modes, smart notifications from a paired smartphone, the Connect IQ store and Garmin Pay. The Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S support Music playback by default too, unlike their predecessors. As such, there is no Forerunner 265 Music or Forerunner 265S Music, with Wi-Fi connectivity offered to standard models.

Moreover, Garmin rates the smaller Forerunner 265S for 15 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, 24 hours in GPS mode and 6 hours with all-systems GNSS mode + multi-band with Music playing. By contrast, the larger Forerunner 265 only has 13 days of quoted battery life in smartwatch mode, 20 hours in GPS mode and 6 hours with the same heavy usage as the Forerunner 265S. Both smartwatches are orderable now in multiple markets, including the US where they sell for US$449.99. At launch, the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S are available in the following colour combinations:

  • Forerunner 265

    • Black Bezel with Aqua Case and Aqua/Black Silicone Band
    • Black Bezel and Case with Black/Powder Gray Silicone Band
    • Black Bezel with Whitestone Case and Whitestone/Tidal Blue Silicone Band

  • Forerunner 265S

    • Black Bezel and Case with Black/Amp Yellow Silicone Band
