Garmin has started teasing the release of new smartwatches. While the company has been coy about what it plans to unveil, a separate post on its German Instagram account implies that Garmin will be 'ready to light up your run' on March 2. Incidentally, i-Run suggested that Garmin would release the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 on March 2, although other rumours reported a March 14 launch date.
Currently it has only informed fans that a new product is coming soon'. However, its choice of video relates to an earlier Forerunner 965 leak. Last week high-resolution Forerunner 965 renders leaked online, courtesy of SwimOutlet, which included three of a model wearing the Forerunner 965 with its yellow watch band. Evidently, the leaked photos are from the same shoot as Garmin's video. In other words, Garmin has accidentally confirmed the launch of the Forerunner 965.
Garmin's teaser campaign seems to be misleading a few people, though. Using the phrase 'Ligt up your run' implies that the smartwatch may have some dedicated light functionality, like a flashlight. Unfortunately, there is nothing to suggest that the Forerunner 265 or Forerunner 965 will feature a flashlight. Instead, it appears that Garmin is referring to the pair's AMOLED displays, with the company moving away from its well-established MIP panels. The use of AMOLED displays will result in more expensive devices though, based on leaked pricing.
