Huawei has started updating the Watch GT 3 series to HarmonyOS 3, its latest in-house operating system. According to Huawei Central, Huawei has distributed HarmonyOS 3 to the Watch GT 3 and Watch GT 3 Pro but not the Watch GT 3 SE or Watch GT 3 Porsche Design. Additionally, the website adds that the rollout begins in China, as is often the case with Huawei's major OS update release schedules.
Based on the screenshot below, HarmonyOS 3 arrives as 3.0.0.73 (SP1C00M05) for the Watch GT 3 and Watch GT 3 Pro. Moreover, Huawei Central notes that HarmonyOS 3.0.0.73 is a stable update, with Huawei delaying HarmonyOS 3 Beta builds for the Watch GT 3 series. HarmonyOS 3 is also only an 89 MB download for the Watch GT 3 series, which is nearly 5x smaller than the equivalent update for the Watch 3 series.
Accordingly, Huawei has brought fewer new features to the Watch GT 3 series than its Watch 3 counterparts. In its changelog, the company explains that it has extended the former's flashlight feature and has made unspecified changes for respiratory rate tracking. Furthermore, Huawei has overhauled the main settings menu to simplify its usage; the Watch GT 3 and Watch GT 3 Pro can finally control Bluetooth-connected devices directly, too. Unfortunately, Huawei has not confirmed when HarmonyOS 3 will be available on the Watch GT 3 series outside China.
