Garmin has revealed the Forerunner 965, its more expensive alternative to the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S. As expected, Garmin has equipped the Forerunner 965 with a 1.4-inch AMOLED display that sits within a 46 mm chassis. According to the company, the display operates at 454 x 454 pixels and supports always-on-display functionality. Arguably, the adoption of AMOLED displays is the biggest change from the Forerunner 955, which utilised Garmin's MIP panels.
Moreover, the Forerunner 965 has 32 GB of storage and a battery that should last up to 23 days between charges in smartwatch mode. However, it is worth noting that battery life depletes massively if you listen to music or use location services. Supposedly, the Forerunner 965 will run out within 8:30 hours with all GNSS systems active. Still, that is roughly 1.41x the battery life of the Forerunner 265 series.
The Forerunner 965 also has a titanium bezel and offers broadly the same feature set as the Forerunner 265 series, with all Garmin's assortment of exercise and lifestyle apps, such as Garmin Pay. At launch, Garmin offers the Forerunner 965 for US$599.99 in three colour combinations. In short, the smartwatch is available in black or white finishes; the former can be configured with a yellow watch band, but all models support 22 mm watch straps.
