EVOLVE MVMT has released a wearable to help optimize gait and energy burn during walking exercise. Worn on the ankles, the device can monitor the quality of each step and provide live feedback to reduce injuries.

EVOLVE MVMT has released an ankle wearable that provide real-time gait feedback through a smartphone app. The system leverages the concept of "light walking", a walking technique that helps reduce injuries while increasing calorie burn. Large muscle activation is increased while joint health and good posture are maintained. Initial studies have shown an increase in calorie burn by up to 36 percent during exercise.

The app provides patented gait analysis by tracking each footstep and heel strike, then compares them to the optimal gait pattern. Users can sense vibrations when their steps differ from light walking to quickly learn the new method. Poor steps are also marked on the app, which is available for Android and Apple smartphone users. From the data, wearers are also rated on their walking form on a scale of 1 to 10 and provided guidance for improving their performance. Naturally, a good pair of athletic shoes goes a long way in helping to reduce injuries during exercise (available on Amazon).

The EVOLVE MVMT wearable is currently priced at US$499 and is available from the company website.

EVOLVE MVMT Launches First Wearable Optimizing Weight Loss Through Walking Form, Tracking Quality of Steps

Research shows proper “light walking” technique can burn up to 36% more calories

Byron Bay, Australia - November 15, 2023 - EVOLVE MVMT, a first-of-its-kin wearable that aims to optimize human movement through walking, is the first to analyze not just quantity, but quality, of steps. EVOLVE MVMT enables users to enhance their walking technique to achieve significant health benefits like burning more calories when walking the same distance, and minimizing force transmitted through the joints, making for more efficient and healthier exercise. Designed to facilitate physical longevity and wellness, EVOLVE MVMT preserves the joints and improves muscle recruitment, which also contributes to better posture.

Whether it’s walking on artificial surfaces (e.g., concrete) or relying on modern shock absorbing footwear, most people have adopted a poor walking pattern. The implications of ineffective movement lead to less energy being consumed, less activation of the muscles, and more stress transmitted to the joints, evident in the 42.5M overweight Americans hurt each year due to “weight loss activity related injury.” Created with more than 15 years of research and development, EVOLVE MVMT uses exclusive patented technology to evaluate walking form in real-time. It guides users to improve the quality of each step through applied correction and the technique of “light walking” developed by physiotherapist Luke Pickett.

Initial patient studies conducted at facilities such as the Cleveland Clinic and Monash University in Australia show up to 36% more energy is burned by patients optimizing their walking technique through EVOLVE MVMT’s “light walking.” This technique has several other key lifestyle benefits that help with longevity and health, like improved posture and injury prevention. The increased muscle activation through the core and along the length of the spine contributes to improvement in posture. The increased neuromuscular activity decreases the stress on the lower limb and spinal joints.

“EVOLVE MVMT utilizes biomimicry to improve neuromuscular performance by increasing muscle activation, which burns more energy,” says Luke Pickett, founder of EVOLVE MVMT. “Optimizing walking technique provides a variety of other health benefits too, such as preserving joint cartilage, improving posture, decreasing risk of injury, and more effective exercise, or a greater calorie burn for the same distance and time. This all contributes positively to overall wellness and weight loss goals.”

How It Works

For gait analysis in real-time, EVOLVE MVMT focuses on the heel strike and quality of each step, versus quantity of steps taken. Users start the EVOLVE MVMT journey with a short walking test to understand and identify their own walking pattern. A baseline score on a scale of 1 to 10 is given, with 10 being perfect walking form. Users will then receive individualized guidance on improving their score through daily or weekly walks, all which can be customized, viewed and tracked within the EVOLVE MVMT app, based on unique health goals.

When users perform the light walking test and revert to normal gait, the feeling is undeniable. With just a few minutes over multiple sessions per week, users can steadily improve their walking pattern while immediately feeling the benefits of efficient and safe exercise. During walks or post-exercise, users are able to track the quality of each step taken, visually represented live through varying sized contact circles across the screen or summary charts provided post session. An average step score is calculated, which can change and improve a user’s baseline score - the ultimate goal over time.

EVOLVE MVMT is now available on www.evolvemvmt.com for $499.
