Garmin has quietly released the Instinct 3 series, less than 24 hours after an official retailer revealed various details about the new smartwatches. As expected, Garmin has replaced the likes of the Instinct 2 with direct successors. However, it has also introduced a cheaper model called the Instinct E, just like the Fenix 8 and Fenix E a few months ago (curr. $799.99 on Amazon).
As a result, Garmin's new Instinct smartwatches start at $299.99. With that being said, the Instinct 3 series proper begins at $399.99 with a 45 mm casing, solar charging and a Memory in Pixel (MiP) display. By contrast, AMOLED display options cost at least $449.99, albeit at the expense of battery life compared with their MiP siblings.
In summary, Garmin has added a suite of new features across all Instinct 3 models. For instance, all variants support Garmin Pay, as well as multi-band GNSS. Moreover, both Instinct 3 sizes come with a built-in flashlight, although this escapes the cheaper Instinct E. On top of that, the Instinct 3 series offers SatIQ functionality, as well as recent software features like Garmin Share.
Unfortunately, the Instinct E and Instinct 3 series also contain Garmin's fourth-generation heart rate sensor. On top of that, while Garmin has announced its new smartwatches today, none will be available to order until January 10.
