Therabody has announced a partnership with Garmin, which will bring personalized recovery to users. The wellness company says that it wants to deliver a range of smart recovery solutions to users, as well as to better understand the impact of recovery on athletic performance.
In the announcement, Therabody revealed the new Coach by Therabody tool, which has been released for beta testing. Based in the Therabody app, the AI-driven coach can send you reminders and generate a personalized recovery plan. Users are asked to choose from goals like being more active, improving performance and reducing muscle soreness. They can also connect to apps like Garmin Connect, Apple Health, Google Health, and Strava, which provide the data needed to customize your recovery video guide recommendations.
Alongside this, Therabody says that it plans to use data collected by Garmin smartwatch users to study the relationship between recovery and performance. The company notes that it will use data such as heart rate, sleep, activity, stress, body battery and cardiovascular performance. It is unclear how users can opt in or opt out of this study. Plus, it appears that this research is purely for Therabody’s team of scientists; insights are not yet available in the app for the end user.
The Coach by Therabody tool arrived in the latest app release, version 12.0.0. It is worth noting that the CoachBeta is currently only available for users of the Theragun Pro Plus and Theragun Prime Plus (curr. $399 at Amazon). It remains to be seen when it will be more widely available.
