Following the LG OLED G5, the Panasonic Z95B is one of the first smart TVs in the world to feature the latest OLED panel from LG Display. Dubbed the “RGB Tandem Panel”, it is supposedly able to achieve “unprecedented” brightness in conjunction with Panasonic's ThermalFlow cooling system. Even though Panasonic hasn’t provided specific numbers, the panel should be able to deliver an HDR peak brightness of around 4,000 nits.
Panasonic says that light efficiency has improved by 40% compared with the previous model, resulting in lower power usage. The new HCX Pro AI Process MK II is designed to further enhance picture quality through various methods, including the “4K Remaster Engine”. This technology can upscale content to 4K, reduce noise, and decrease banding in colour gradients. The Panasonic Z95B supports Dolby Vision IQ HD content and can automatically adjust brightness based on ambient light conditions. Colour reproduction can also be fine-tuned using Calman and ISFccc calibration.
For gaming enthusiasts, the Panasonic Z95B offers a refresh rate of 144 Hz, support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync, and what the company claims is industry-leading ultra-low input lag. There is a True Game Mode for enhancing colour accuracy, whilst Game Mode Extreme lets players enable all gaming features with a button press. HDMI 2.1 allows the smart TV to work seamlessly with game consoles like the Xbox Series X and Sony PlayStation 5 (around $449 on Amazon).
The smart TV features are based on Amazon Fire TV. Nonetheless, the Panasonic Z95B also supports wireless streaming from an iPhone or a Mac via Apple AirPlay. You can also use voice commands to control the device if you don’t want to use a remote. Panasonic has installed a soundbar at the bottom edge of the Z95B, promising to deliver an exceptionally wide and accurate soundstage in collaboration with Technics. Compared with the predecessor, the integrated woofer is 50% more powerful owing to its 30-watt amplifier.
