Not long ago, buying an 83-inch OLED TV at a reasonable price was little more than a fantasy. Fortunately, prices have dropped on the largest options, particularly with the popular LG C5. At Greentoe, the enormous WOLED panel is now available for significantly less than the previous low Amazon sale price.

The Keepa tracker shows that the LG C5 had fallen to as low as $2575 on Amazon. After rising to near $3000, the Greentoe OLED TV deal discounts the display to $2295.65. It’s possible that buyers could save more money by trying the retailer’s “Name Your Price” feature.

The surprisingly thin LG C5

Despite its large size, the LG TV maintains a slim profile. When considering alternatives, a wall-mounted C5 will sit nearly as flush as a screen in a 4K projector setup. Connectivity is ample with 4 HDMI 2.1 ports to enable 144Hz refresh rate gaming.

DLP or laser projectors with comparable prices will struggle to match the deep blacks of an OLED TV. That makes dim scenes in horror movies or games like Resident Evil Requiem even more frightening. While not as bright as the flagship LG G5, the TV can survive some sunlight in living rooms. Even so, the Rtings review noted that viewers could have to contend with distracting reflections.

Other huge flat panel candidates

When analyzing the OLED TV competition, the Samsung S90F is a natural rival of the LG C5. Its QD-OLED technology produces more vivid HDR images, but the lack of Dolby Vision is a common complaint. Otherwise, for maximum screen size, Mini LED TVs like the TCL QM7K may seem appealing. This alternative is even brighter, but black levels are inferior even in ideal conditions.

At $2295.65, the 83-inch LG C5 TV deal at Greentoe is an affordable path to cinema-quality movie-watching. However, buyers should opt for a soundbar or surround sound system to replace its mediocre speakers.
