The Optoma UHZ36 4K UHD laser projector has been released in the US. The new model is designed for everyday use at home, throwing images up to 300 inches wide on a wall or screen in your living room.
The UHZ36 is a DLP projector with a 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pz) resolution and native 16:9 aspect ratio. The laser phosphor light source is said to deliver up to 3,500 ISO lumen brightness, meaning that the projector can be used in a daylit room. The throw ratio is 1.21-1.59:1, and the model offers manual 1.3x zoom and auto vertical keystone correction.
Users of the Optoma UHZ36 will need to connect a streaming device like a Fire TV Stick (4K Plus curr. $29.99 at Amazon), a phone or a laptop to access apps like Netflix and Disney+. Ports on the device include USB-A, RS232 and two HDMI 2.0 (one ARC out), with 8.5 ms input lag at 1080p@240Hz and Auto Low Latency Mode. There is also a built-in 15W speaker. It measures 274 × 215.5 × 101 mm (~10.8 × 8.5 × 4 inches) and weighs 3.4 kg (~7.5 lbs).
The Optoma UHZ36 is now available to order in the US for $1,299 at Amazon and at B&H Photo. Whether or when it will be released in Europe is unclear.
