New Xiaomi smartphones launching globally months earlier than expected

Plenty is already known about Xiaomi's next global sub-flagship smartphone releases. In short, recent code changes have revealed battery and camera details for the Xiaomi 17T. Now, popular leaker Experience more has weighed in on the state of the Xiaomi 17T series as a whole.
Previously, Xiaomi has based the Pro version of its T series smartphones on the Redmi K Extreme or Ultra Editions. For instance, the Xiaomi 15T Pro (curr. $825 on Amazon) shares its core specifications with the Redmi K80 Ultra. According to Experience more, this is not the case with the Xiaomi 17T Pro.

Writing on Weibo, Experience more expects that both the Xiaomi 17T Pro and Xiaomi 17T are 'four months ahead of the previous generation. Therefore, we may see the Xiaomi 17T series making its global debut in mid to late May 2026 rather than September 2026.
Currently, Xiaomi is believed to have built the Xiaomi 17T around the Dimensity 8500. Paired with a 6,500 mAh battery that supports 67 W charging, the Xiaomi 17T will carry across its predecessor's cameras wholesale. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17T Pro should leverage MediaTek's more powerful Dimensity 9500 platform.
