Vivo releases new V70 smartphone with Motorola Edge 70 rivalling performance and ultrasonic fingerprint scanner

Vivo has now officially launched the V70. The follow-up to last year's V60, the V70 has arrived alongside the V70 Elite but not the rumoured V70 FE. Please see our V70 Elite launch article for more details about Vivo's other new mid-range smartphone.
While the V70 departs from the V60 in some areas, it retains its predecessor's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Incidentally, this is the same chipset that powers the Motorola Edge 70 (curr. $509 on Amazon). Meanwhile, display size has shrunk from 6.77-inches to 6.59-inches between the V60 and V70. The flat OLED panel is brighter for this generation too, with Vivo quoting 1,800 nits full panel and 5,000 nits HDR in small areas.
Also, Vivo complements this 2,750 x 1,260 and 120 Hz display with a new ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a 50 MP front-facing camera. Moreover, the rear of the device is occupied by a 50 MP Sony LYT 700V main sensor, a 50 MP telephoto backed by optical image stabilisation (OIS) and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
On top of that, Vivo includes a 6,500 mAh battery supported by 90 W wired charging and promises to offer six years of updates from Android 16. Also, the Vivo V70 should receive security patches throughout that period. Pricing in India starts at INR 45,999 (~$505) with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Vivo plans to sell the V70 across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, too.
