Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 launches as a Grade-5 titanium flagship with 3,000-nit display and 870 mAh battery

After recent leaks surfaced, Amazfit has officially announced the T-Rex Ultra 2. It's the new flagship entry in its rugged outdoor smartwatch series. The primary upgrade here is a 74% increase in battery capacity, jumping from the 500 mAh unit found in the original T-Rex Ultra to a high-density 870 mAh cell. Despite this big energy density upgrade, the device still has a nearly identical weight profile, coming in at 89.2 g compared to the predecessor's 89 g. This weight efficiency is achieved through the use of Grade-5 Titanium for the case back, bezel, and hardware buttons - this replaces the 316L stainless steel architecture used in the 2023 model.
Visual performance has been recalibrated with a 1.5-inch AMOLED display protected by sapphire glass, capable of reaching a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. This is a 300% increase over the 1,000-nit peak of the previous generation, which should greatly improve visibiilty in high-altitude or direct-glare environments. Internally, the storage capacity has been expanded from 4 GB to 64 GB, which now accommodates pre-installed topographic offline maps that differentiate between paved and unpaved paths. While the original Ultra required users to import OSM map files manually, the Ultra 2 provides native, turn-by-turn navigation via six concurrent satellite systems.
Hardware utility has also been upgraded with the inclusion of an integrated dual-mode LED flashlight, providing a dedicated 200 or 300-lux output and an SOS mode. This replaces the screen-based lighting solutions of the previous iteration. For European markets, the device now includes NFC payment support. The watch keeps its extreme-environment certifications, and can operate in temperatures as low as -30∘C while maintaining a 10 ATM water resistance rating (suitable for freediving and high-speed water sports).
The T-Rex Ultra 2 is priced at €549,90 in the EU, and $549.90 in the US. You can read more about the smartwatch's US launch here.
