Garmin permanently cuts price of high-end smartwatch with satellite and cellular connectivity

Almost six months have passed since Garmin released the Fenix 8 Pro with an optional MicroLED display plus satellite and cellular connectivity across all variants. In the interim, the company introduced the Quatix 8 Pro as a boating and sailing-focused alternative. More recently, there have been suggestions that Garmin is preparing to deliver its first Fenix 9 smartwatches during the second half of the year, too.
In the meantime, Garmin has silently dropped the pricing of its most expensive Fenix 8 Pro SKU with a MicroLED display. Conversely, prices for AMOLED versions remain unchanged. Thus, the Fenix 8 Pro starts at $1,199.99 and rises by $100 for a 51 mm variant (curr. $1,299.99 on Amazon).
Initially, an $800 gap existed between 51 mm versions of the Fenix 8 Pro with AMOLED and MicroLED displays. As a result, the only way of optioning Garmin's new ultra-bright display technology was to spend $1,999.99.
Now, Garmin has silently slashed $300 off this variant. As far as we can tell, this is a permanent price drop. Unfortunately, Garmin has not replicated this 15% reduction in other markets like the Eurozone or the UK.
