Xiaomi announces imminent global launch of new Wear OS smartwatch

Xiaomi already has plenty of new devices waiting in the wings for its next international launch event. To recap, the company has confirmed that its 'The New Wave of Imagery' showcase will occur on February 28. Scheduled to start at 13:00 UTC, the event will take place just three days after Samsung hosts its next Galaxy Unpacked event.
In short, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are locked in to debut internationally on February 28. Now, Xiaomi has turned to some of the other devices that will also appear during the same event. For instance, it has begun teasing the imminent arrivals of not just the Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro but also the Redmi Buds 8 Pro and the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W in more markets.

At the same time, it has teased that the international launch of the Watch 5 is on the horizon as well. For context, Xiaomi introduced the Watch 5 in December alongside the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Currently, Xiaomi has included a single Watch 5 picture on its global event teaser page.
Nonetheless, crucial details about the smartwatch are hidden in plain sight. Specifically, the Watch 5 is shown with Gemini, Google Maps, Google Wallet and the Google Play Store installed. Hence, the Watch 5 will rival the Pixel Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch8 (curr. $326 on Amazon) by adopting Wear OS rather than Xiaomi's proprietary alternative. Based on recent leaks, the Watch 5 will reach the Eurozone for approximately €329 (~$390).
