Motorola releases Android 16 update for Razr 2025 and Razr Ultra 2025, but the Razr+ 2025 is MIA

Announced in April 2025, the Motorola Razr 2025 and Razr Ultra 2025 are a couple of months from their first anniversary. However, the phones which launched with Android 15 out of the box, are just getting the first of three OS upgrades they are billed to receive.

The update brings Android 16 to the clamshell foldable smartphones, which means they have Android 17 and Android 18 left from their software update policy. Both phones will also receive 4 years of security updates. It is important to state that the European versions of the phones which are sold as the Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra (available on Amazon.de for €649.99), already received the update a couple of months ago.

According to a report, the update is being pushed out by Verizon and T-Mobile, and one user who has received it says the update is about 4GB in size. The changelog states the update brings up the security patch level to December 2025. It also mentions a design change and better compatibility with (Bluetooth) LE Audio devices.

As is usually the case, the rollout will be in phases, but should be available to everyone eventually. To check if the update is available for your device, open the Settings app, select About phone, and select System updates. If there is an update, download and install it.

Surprisingly, there's no info about the update arriving for the Razr+ 2025.
