Todd Howard talks The Elder Scrolls 6 progress, Starfield 2.0, Fallout titles, and more

Ever since the launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in April last year, the anticipation for The Elder Scrolls VI (6) has ramped back up. It is known that Bethesda is working on multiple projects, one of which is the next Elder Scrolls game, some Fallout titles, and also more content for Starfield. Recently, Bethesda director Todd Howard came on a podcast and shared some information about what’s in the works at the studio.
During the Kinda Funny Gamescast podcast (linked below) streamed on February 18, Howard spoke about bringing more content to Starfield. He clarified that it is not Starfield 2.0, but people who love Starfield will love the new content coming. Without sharing any dates or timelines, Howard confirmed that they will reveal what’s coming soon. Furthermore, content will keep coming to Starfield “for a while,” he added.
Coming to The Elder Scrolls 6, Howard said the development is going well. It is being designed on Creation Engine 3, which will become the base for games at Bethesda moving forward. A majority of the studio is working on The Elder Scrolls 6 so things seem to be progressing well on that front, with a major milestone about to be achieved internally. Just for reference, the game was originally announced over seven years ago.
Talking about the genre and style of The Elder Scrolls 6, Howard explained that Bethesda will be going back to its classic style, suggesting a more ‘back to the roots approach.’ With Fallout 76 and Starfield, it was a “creative detour” from the classic Elder Scrolls style. The studio head did not share any timelines for the game, however, but assured that progress is being made steadily.
Then, moving on to Fallout games, Howard reiterated there are multiple Fallout projects in the works. While not confirming any particular titles, he mentioned that he has softened overtime on remasters. There have been talks of a Fallout 3 remaster, which could be what Todd was hinting at. Fallout 5 or any reference to it, was not mentioned.
