Elder Scrolls 6: Full game title may have just been confirmed

Ever since the original announcement in 2018, The Elder Scrolls 6 has been a mystery. Bethesda has been very cautious about the information it shares and has made sure to keep the release timeline hidden. Moreover, even the full title of the game is unknown, but it seems like fans have now got confirmation on what it is.

Fans have once again gathered on Reddit to talk about what the full title for the next Elder Scrolls game could be. While it’s not a new discovery, there have been a couple of incidents that give credibility to the theory. It is believed that “The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel” will be the complete title. Sentinel is one of the major kingdoms in Hammerfell.

Following the clues

Firstly, the clues around the name came from the fact that The Elder Scrolls 6 is set in Hammerfell, as depicted by the teaser shared by Bethesda. Next, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma recently shared on X that she got to see a live playthrough of the game, with a redacted title. The redacted phrase has eight asterisks, suggesting an eight-letter word. In the past, Skyrim 2, Covenant, Dominion, Starfall, and Orsinium had been some of the suggestions.

The discovery

The name was apparently hidden within Bethesda’s Starfield. It all started in 2023 when ‘the_monotonist’ posted on Reddit that the employee number in the character customization screen is hiding the name for the next Elder Scrolls game. Now, after Asha Sharma’s post, both the eight-letter theory and Sentinel were reiterated.

What also adds fuel to the fire is former Bethesda writer and designer Michael Kirkbride, who responded to a comment on a related post with a simple “Yep,” confirming the name ‘Sentinel.’ Bethesda is known for hiding elements about new games in older titles, so this could be one of those instances.

It could also be that Kirkbride is just messing with the fans. If that’s true, the name remains a mystery, but if not, we finally know what the next Elder Scrolls game is titled.
